WelcomeVaughn Farms Limousin purchased our first Limousin bull in 1978. We bred-up crossbred cows and over the years purchased select heifers and bred females to build a herd of 200 registered purebred cows. We sold our first bull at auction in 1985 at the North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City. Our first bulls were marketed at the Winter Show’s North Dakota Limousin State Sale and private treaty sales up until 1995 when we started “The Dakota Connection Sale”. The “Dakota Connection Sale” was initially a partnership between three breeders to bring purebred Limousin bulls to market. As of this year, the sale will feature only Vaughn Farms Limousin cattle. We typically offer 40+ head of stout bulls and a select group of bred females on third Saturday in March at the Napoleon Livestock Auction, Napoleon, ND.
Vaughn Farms is a member of the “LIMS” program with the North American Limousin Foundation. We collect birth weights, weaning weights, yearling weights, and chute scores on all calves. We follow the “Beef Quality Assurance” rules for handling all of our livestock.
Vaughn Farms AI’s 100 cows a year and uses bulls that excel in the traits that help our customers be more profitable. Performance and ultrasound data on all bulls is available at the sale. Vaughn Farms cattle are always sold with the North American Limousin Foundation guarantee. We have been members of the North American Limousin Foundation since 1983 and Tom was elected to the NALF board of directors in 2008. We are also members of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
We’ve exhibited a pen-of-three bulls the last two years at the National Western Stock Show in Denver. These bulls typically highlight our sale each spring.
Feel free to contact us! We would love to talk to you about your next herd sire. We would also like to remind you that Limousin bulls are the best cross with English breed cattle.
